We have had a number of projects going on for a number of months now. I am really good at coming up with what I want done, and how, and then passing off the task to the hubby. Aren't we all? I figure it makes him feel useful and helpful and well, he does a better job and is stronger too.
We finally sucked it up and went to the furniture store with the boys. It actually took two Saturdays and a whole lot of fighting and threats but we finally found what we wanted. Trevor and Jared got new blue bunkbeds and a dresser and then Aaron (the dish doer) got a new dishwasher! :)
The man got really lucky though and the dresser came preassembled and the beds the nice delivery guys put together for us. The ones from John Paras did not, so this was a pleasant surprise for us! The dishwasher however was a bit of a nightmare. He got it out of the box and began reading the instructions, yes he has been trained. Well, turns out there is a page that says parts needed and all the parts are included EXCEPT ONE!!!! Just a 5 dollar part that you can get at Lowe's but at 10 o'clock at night that is NOT good news. So, he got everything else all ready to be hooked up and then slid the beast over so it could be finished the following day after the piece was purchased. Unfortunatly there was one sharp piece on the bottom of the washer that sliced his big toe.
I didn't even know until the following morning when it was still bleeding (luckily the bandages kept it off my sheets, phew!) and he said he was going into work a little early to stitch it up. YES, you saw that right, the man stitched up his own big toe. It makes me giggle to imagine that scene. Too bad he went in early so nobody was even there to witness or take a picture.
Well 2 days and 4 stitches later we have an awesome new dishwasher that has made a huge difference in our dishes apperance and in the smile on the dish doers face!
YES that is the side of our house!!! NO I was not calm about the fact that Aaron was cutting a hole in the side of our house, but YES it worked and he did a great job!

Speaking of basement. We are getting SO close to the first inspection. The rooms are all framed and look fantastic (he is an excellent framer I have learned). The electric is all wired and working (a scary day when he cut the main power but then ta-da we had lights in the entire basement). The duct work is all up and ready for the vents (thanks to Jeff and his super nice service... owe him now too). The hole in the house is securely covered to keep out uninvited guests. Next up... finish the plumbing in the bathroom which led us to this:
Renting a jackhammer and making a hole in the cement in the floor of the basement. Yikes!
The whole house was vibrating and it made a HUGE dusty mess. I had to giggle to think that we had a jackhammer. My white collar, Masters degree holding husband has become rather handy with tools and impressive with his work!
The work continues in the basement but we are getting there and it is so exciting to see the progress. One of these days I am going to have to clean up though because he has a HUGE mess down there and it is driving me crazy.
